Could Online Coaching Really Work?

In Five Months, I Saw Changes What Four Years Couldn't Do

The Amazing Story from A Mother of Twins

February 18, 2026

"Could an online parent coaching program really be more effective than having a therapist come to our home and work directly with my kids?" That was my honest skepticism at the start.

My twin boys are four years old. They were born at 24 weeks—extremely premature—and because of significant developmental delays, they can barely sit up on their own and still have medical equipments and tubes attached to them. Most therapy centers turned us away. The only option we had was in-home therapy, where therapists would come to our house for all their rehab sessions.

Because my boys don't have language yet and their physical abilities are so limited, our interactions in the past four years have been... minimal. We just didn't have much we could actually do together.

But after five months with PenguinSmart, I'm completely blown away. Everything has exceeded what I thought was possible.

In other therapy sessions, the therapist works directly with the kids, then tells me what I can practice at home. But with PenguinSmart, the therapist sees my children through my eyes, and then teaches me how to truly observe them.

Those fleeting movements in everyday life, those meaningless babbling sounds—I'd never paid attention to any of it. But the therapist analyzes videos I record and helps me decode what my boys are trying to communicate.

She points out details like: "Mom, when you want to get his attention, don't just tap him. Try using your whole palm to firmly grip his arm and hold it there for a moment. Let him feel that deeper press."

Okay, I'll try that. And immediately—IMMEDIATELY—my children respond differently! I swear, it's true! Every single time! As soon as I adjust what I'm doing, they give me new feedback.

My new catchphrase is: "We Have A Pair of Geniuses!"

Now I love observing and interacting with them. I'm always anticipating what kind of response they'll give me, and I'm learning to see things from their perspective—to understand what they're trying to tell me.

I also really look forward to every online session. Unlike other therapy appointments, where you can basically predict what exercises the therapist will do with your child that day, PenguinSmart sessions always start from our real daily life. The therapist points out blind spots and opportunities I never noticed, and I leave each session pumped up and eager to try new things with my boys.
