I have two daughters. My older girl was diagnosed with autism at two years old. "Could an online parent coaching program really be more effective than having a therapist come to our home and work directly with my kids?" That was my honest skepticism at the start.

My twin boys are four years old. They were born at 24 weeks—extremely premature—and because of significant developmental delays, they can barely sit up on their own and still have medical equipments and tubes attached to them. Parent-centered intervention hones in the idea that there's a methodology and a framework to effectively help parents become communication partners and enablers for their children as they grow from being non-verbal to verbal.
Is parent-centered intervention something better left to be done by the experts? We're not trying to turn parents into therapists, however, in communication training, frequency and consistency are more important than accuracy. It's more important for the children to see sentences being demonstrated to people around them in real-life scenarios rather than waiting for the most certified experts to teach them.
